The Mountain Dew UG3x3 nationwide tour tipped off on Saturday 19th at Makerere University Pool Court with the Kampala Circuit.

The inaugural event attracted 15 teams, 10 for the men and 5 for the ladies who competed for the grand prize and qualification to the grand Finale.

Team 3-peat, led by 3-time NBL Champion Agatha Kamwada won in the ladies category after a clean sweep, 6/6.

They won their opening game comfortably, 11-5, against Lady Eagles, but they had to grind out victories in their next 3 games.

However, in the semifinals, they were reignited and easily saw off MUBS Ballers with an 11-4 win and then sealed the deal against short-handed MUBS Elites in the final with a 15-9 victory.

Team 3-peat had 2 seasoned 3×3 players, the Captain Agatha Kamwada, who was named Top Scorer and Miriam Senade who was the Top Rebounder and MVP.

The other 2 players were Our Savior Banyabo duo Vivian Faith Onyami and Rebecca Agathe.

Team Tea Time was the only team to score 21 points in a game and they won all their pool games until the semifinals.

Grim Reapers was the only other team to score 20 points in a game and they lost just one of their group games, 12-5 against Team Clan.

The two teams faced off in what was the most tense game of the day and it was decided in overtime.

Grip Reapers scored the first 2 points in Overtime and advanced to the finals, against Team Clan, who had already defeated them in the Pool games.

Team Clan easily saw off Tigers with a 12-7 victory and they were able to advance to the finals.

The final was another very entertaining one as team Clan was relying mostly on skills to attack the basket while Grim Reapers were putting their height advantage to very good use and they emerged victorious 11-16.

The winners, 3-peat and Grim Reapers, each received the prize money, 400,000, while the runners-up, Team Clan and MUBS Elites, each got 200,000.

Miriam Senade received 200,000 more for being named MVP and Top Rebounder while Agatha Kamwada received 100,000 for being the Top Scorer.

Big Dunk by Moses Mandiria
