Wananchi delivered a crucial 4-1 victory over title-holders KHC Swans, cementing their lead at the top of the table. Prior to the match, Wananchi led with 28 points, closely pursued by the Swans at 23 points, who needed a win to keep their title hopes alive.

But Wananchi, determined to widen the gap, dominated the game with goals from Muber Consolate, Teopista Anyango, Doreen Mbabazi, and Nelima, while Winnie Alaro netted KHC Swans’ lone goal.

This decisive win catapulted Wananchi to 31 points, creating an 8-point cushion over KHC Swans, who now sit level with Wananchi HDF after HDF’s tight 1-0 win over Deliverance Church.

Janet Nakato’s winning strike for HDF not only secured the points but also solidified her lead on the top scorer’s chart with 16 goals in 11 games.

With only three matches left in the season, Wananchi stands just one win away from being crowned champions.

In other weekend fixtures, Weatherhead cruised past Makerere with a 6-0 win, while the Historicals thrashed Thunders 7-0.
