Daniel Odokonyero and Akena Ryan were the star performers of the day as KIU Titans defated YMCA Hamstars 74-64 in game three. The duo combined for 43 points (58% of the team’s total) as KIU took a 2-1 lead in the semifinals series.
Ahead of this game, YMCA had won game two 81-71 and wanted to take the lead in the series. On the other hand, the KIU Titans were keen on staying in control and taking the advantage.
The first half of the game was very competitive. The first quarter ended 17-16 with KIU in the lead and at halftime, they still led 34-33. The biggest lead in the first half was 5 points and it didn’t’ last long.
KIU took over in the third quarter. They scored 21 points while YMCA made just 13 and the Titans took a 9-point lead in the final period. The Titans made a 16-5 run during the third quarter and that is how they managed to amass that lead. Akena and Odokonyero combined for 15 points but Emmanuel Okumu made 2 huge 3-point shots that changed the game.
KIU started the fourth quarter on a high. They scored 11 unanswered points to make it a 20-point game with less than 5 minutes to play. YMCA was in a deep hole and couldn’t crawl out of it. Eventually, KIU won the game 74-64.

Akena Ryan was on fire as he scored a game-high 23 points with 57% efficiency from the field. Daniel Odokonyero was the star performer of the day. He registered a double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Emmanuel Okumu finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds.
Christian Ndibu registered a 10 points and 15 rebounds double double. Dennis Kizito led the team in scoring with 13 points and 6 rebounds while Hijah Mulisho made 10 points.
Decisive Game Four
YMCA must win game four in order to keep their NBL dream alive. On the other hand, KIU is just 40 minutes away from returning to the NBL. Who will win game four? The teams return to action on Tuesday October 6, 2026 at YMCA. The game will tipoff at 8:00pm.
