The Cricket Cranes made headlines worldwide after securing their qualification for the T-20 World Cup 2024. In November 2023, they achieved a remarkable feat by defeating Zimbabwe, one of the top cricketing nations in Africa.

This achievement marks a historic moment for Uganda, an associate nation, as they gear up for the prestigious tournament.

The T-20 World Cup 2024, jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States, will feature an expanded format with 20 teams competing across 55 games.

The qualifying teams will be divided into four groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the Super 8 round. From there, the knockout stage will determine the finalists through two semi-finals and a final match.

Uganda finds itself in Group C alongside hosts West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, and Papua New Guinea. The team has been preparing rigorously, including warm-up games against Scotland and Namibia in the Caribbean. Their campaign kicks off on June 4th against Afghanistan.

Under the guidance of new coach Abhay Sharma, the Cricket Cranes are infused with fresh energy and optimism. Riazat Ali Shah, the newly appointed Vice Captain, adds leadership to the side.
