The 2026 NBL mid-season transfer window has been quieter than usual so far. The top two teams, the UCU Lady Canons and the JT Lady Jaguars have yet to add any players.

For the case of UCU, it is a rarity that they add players midway. However, for the JT Lady Jaguars, we have seen some midseason transfers in the past. It will be very surprising if the transfer window got done without any addition.

For the JKL Lady Dolphins, they have had a number of challenges including losing by forfeit in their first game of the second round. In the final 3 games of the first round, they only had  6 players available. Brenda Ekon was out with injuries, Shadia Nassanga away for Netball in Malaysia while Evelyne Nakiyingi is currently in Tanzania.

The defending champions have added 2 players so far to their thin squad. Melinda Laker returned from Nkumba Lady Marines where she had been on loan. They also added Shiphrah Kiranda who is currently studying at Kitende in Senior 5.

The KCCA Leopards did not raise a full team in the first round as they had only 10 players registered. To make matters worse, Becky Longom did not feature while Uwineza Ninette missed 2 games and Margaret Bagaala missed 1.

So far, the Leopards have added 1 player, veteran Zainah Lokwameri, who had been away, playing in Ethiopia. She will bring a lot of experience and leadership plus a winning mentality. The Leopards will also be looking to add 2 more players but nothing has been finalised so far.

The UPDF Lady Tomahawks added Maria Awidi from the UCU Lady Canons and she made her debut against Nabisunsa. On the other hand, Pearl Queens let go of a number of players including; Penlop Amiya, Gladys Kabang, Rosiana Mungwapa, and Mercy Akumu. They so far added one player; Veteran Okoth Alouch Belinda from Kenya.

The KIU Rangers struggled in the first round but got off to a wonderful start after getting a walkover win against the JKL Lady Dolphins. They have also added one player; Gladys Kabang, who was released by the Pearl Queens.

Angels won just one game in round one but started their second round on a high with a victory against the Miracle Eaglets. They have been boosted by the return of guard Martha Likicho who was their top scorer in 2025 but had transferred to the Miracle Eaglets in the first round.

So far, there hasn’t been a lot of transfer news in the ladies division but as we approach the 15th May deadline, more player movement will be seen.
