Game week 14 had a lot of mouth watering and tense fixtures with 3 games ending within 5 points.

The UCU lady Canons opened the game week on Wednesday against the Miracle Ravens. The Lady Canons completely took over in the second quarter with 34-14 and they never looked back. The second halfway even but enough had already been done in the first half and the game ended 62-92.

UCU had 5 players in double digit figures, Tracy Namugosa (11), Aziida Nabayunga (14), Millicent Otieno (10), Shillah Lamunu (14) and Sylivia Nantongo (14). Brenda Alyano and Hanifah Namuli each had 18 points while Akello Winnifred made a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

The Miracle Ravens were back in action on Saturday against the A1 Challenge, and they managed to return to winning ways. The 7-point cushion developed in the first half was enough for them to win 46-53 as the second was tied with each team scoring 27 points. Hanifah Namuli scored 13 points while Winnifred Akello had 10 points. Lilian Cherotich made history once again after registering 19 rebounds and 8 blocks.

A1 Challenge struggled offensively with 28% FG and only a single player in double digits, Kekimuli Cathy who came off the bench to score 10 in 14 minutes.

Barely 24 hours after their game against Miracle, A1 Challenge was back in action on Sunday morning against the JT Lady Jaguars. Their offense struggled in the first 3 quarters as they scored just 24 points compared to 43 for the Lady Jaguars. The fourth quarter was very decent with 19 points for each team and the game ended 43-62.

Stella Kiberenge had a big double-double, 20 points, 12 rebounds and Faith Apio had 11 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Mercy Batamuliza had a monster performance on both ends, 17 points, 23 rebounds to her name.

The UPDF Lady Tomahawks had no way through against the KIU Rangers. The Rangers came for the business, and they got it done with a 51-82 victory. The second quarter was the turning point as the Rangers won it 27-11 and they never looked back. The momentum carried forward in the third quarter and they took it 8-19, establishing a 33-point lead.

Dorah Nakijjoba was the only UPDF player with double digit scores, 10 points while Stella Marris Lunkuse and Aisha Namakula each had 11 rebounds. 3 of the KIU Rangers’ starters had double digits, Ines Kanyamuneza (16), Amaniyo Mary (13) and Sharon Kirabo (16).

The KIU Rangers were in full force for their second game of the week as they took on Kampala University. The dominion was seen from the get-go and the Rangers won with ease, 44-96.

5 players for the Rangers recorded 10+ points, Ines kanyamuneza (17), Amaniyo Mary (22), Sharon Kirabo (13), Brenda Ayere (13) and Balita Esperance (12). Gloria Ayaa (10 points, 13 rebounds) and Victoria Nalwanga (10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals) continued to show that they are the best players for Kampala University.

Kampala University had played against YMCA Lady Hamstars on Saturday and despite a much-improved performance offensively, YMCA managed to get spaces through their defense and ultimately won the game 51-72. Nalwanga Victoria registered 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals while Josephine Alimochan had 12 points and 6 rebounds. Akello Scovia recorded a gameweek-high 25 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Njeru Agnes registered 10 points, 14 rebounds double-double while Rose Adhiambo had 13 points.

The Kampala Rockets made it 3 wins in 3 games for the second round after defeating the UCU Canons in a very edge fixture. The Rockets led after the first quarter, 19-10 but the UCU Canons came strong in the second taking it 23-16 but still trailed. The Canons held the lead, 53-50 heading into the fourth quarter but the story was different thereafter.

The game was tied 65 a piece with 2:02 left but Ruai Luak untied it after making a layup with 51 seconds left.  With 13 seconds left, Luak scored 1 of 2 free throws to make it a 3 point game and the canons had 3 attempts thereon but failed to make any. The Rockets ran away with a 67-70 victory and are now in 10th place with 4 wins, same as Power, Livingstone, JKL Dolphins and 1 more than Ndejje Angels.

Lwabaga Ibanda led scoring with 17 points, Jerry Samson Kayanga had 15 points and Jimmy Otim had 11 points. Four of the five Rockets starters had double digits and 3 of them had a double-double. Christian Ndibu (14 points, 10 points), Puati Ozias Kikomba (16 points, 13 rebounds), Ruai Luak (14 points, 13 rebounds) while kur Garang had 14 points.

The UCU Canons came back stronger against five-time champions Power and they got the job done in the second and third quarters. In that period, they outscored Power 48-22 and made it a 29-point game heading into the fourth quarter.  Power showed up in the final period scoring 29 points, but they lost 72-92.

The UCU Canons had 5 players in double digits, Jimmy Otim (11), Lwabaga Ibanda (15), Jerry Kayanga Samson (10) while Joel Kayiira (16 points, 13 rebounds) and Peter Sifuma (17 points, 11 rebounds) completed a double-double.

Elvis Ssentongo and Philip Ameny both scored 15 for Power while Isaac Afidra made 3 triples and added 8 assists to his tally. Soro Geoffrey had 12 points, 6 rebounds off the bench.

Namuwongo Blazers narrowly won both their fixtures and they have now won 4 of 4 in the second round. Having been 10 down halfway the final period, the tension in the Arena was through the roof and the Jaguars oozed with confidence about sealing the victory.  The Blazers made an 11-0 run and took the lead with 1:58 left in the game. There was a buckets exchange, but the Blazers took a 4-point lead with 25 seconds left. Ian Lubwama made it a 2-point game from the line but when he had a chance to tie the game with 3 seconds left, he missed both free throws and the Blazers ran away with 62-60 win.

Chuol Nyuot had 17 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists. Joseph Chuma had 1 point and Peter Cheng finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds. 4 of the Jaguars starters had double digits, Kevin Moru (13), Ian Lubwama (10), Benjamin Shango (12) while George Agasi had a double double (15 points, 14 rebounds).

The Nam Blazers had a similar encounter with the Ndejje angels but they came out on the positive side of the results. The Ndejj Angels led 24-15 after the first quarter but the Blazers had a huge third quarter, 24-13 and they took a 4-point lead into the fourth quarter. They managed to keep a gap between themselves and Ndejje and eventually won the game.

Innocent Ochera had a team-high 20 points with Paul Odong (14), Petr Cheng (12) and Joseph Chuma (15) the other heavy contributors. Noel Solomon Yamodo scored 20 points, Bolton Rujumba added 21 points, 7 rebounds, while Benon Wobusobozi (14) and Harod Alinaitwe (10) also scored 10+.  The Ndejje Angels are now bottom of the log with just 3 wins.

The JT Jaguars returned to winning ways after completing the double over Livingstone. Livingstone was off offensively in the first and third quarters, scoring 8 and 5 points respectively. Despite outscoring the Jaguars by 8 in the final quarter, the hole they were in was too deep for them to come out and the Jaguars took it 61-55.

Goerge Agasi made his second double double of the week with 11 points, 10 rebounds. Kevin Moru finished with 16 points and Were Mark had 10 points off the bench. Livingstone had 4 players with double digits, Joshua Namutegera (10), Bruce Okullo (13), Bravo Kalibara (10) and Bismarck Okot with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists double double.

In arguably the biggest game of the ladies, it was a one-sided affair as the JKL Lady Dolphins schooled KCCA Leopards. The Leopards looked very disorderly while on court in the first half and JKL took a 13-point lead into the half time break. The situation did not change in the second half either and the JKL Lady Dolphins took it 69-47. Moreen Amoding had a game-high 22 points and was the only KCCA player to register 10+ points. Ritah Imanishimwe finished with 11 points, Brenda Ekone 15 points, Becky Longom 11 points and Evelyne Nakiyinji 16 points.

The City Oilers were back in action for the first time since leaving BAL and it was business as usual as they registered 2 wins in 2. They saw off Power 67-81 in a game that went down to the final minutes. Isaac Afidra was having fun scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Philip Ameny added 12 points and Taariq Julaam finished with 11 points. Tonny Drileba led scoring for Oilers with 15 points while James Okello (12), Mer Maker (12), Fayed Baale (14) and Rogers Dauna (12) all finished with double digits.

It was light work against Our savior, the lead being 21 at half time. The Oilers did not take the foot off the gas in the second half and they won 47-71.

John Focus Teko had a double double, 13 points, 10 rebounds and Henry Ssebagala finished with 12 points while Joseph Wacha had 10 points. Allawi Ssenkubuge was the player of the game with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists while Titus Lual (11) and Fayed Baale (12) each had 10+ points.
