The City Oilers, who finished the first round as the number one team, added 3 key players; Jonathan Komagum, Patrick Rembert and Germaine Roebuck. Komagum has been a mainstay on the senior National Team, the Silverbacks, and he is expected to bring a lot help a lot defensively. He is a rebound magnet and that picking rebounds will be one of his major roles. Due to his experience on the International scene, he is also expected to dominate more so in the paint.
Rembert is a big guard (when compared to most of the guards in Uganda) and he, together with Roebuck, have played with the City Oilers before at the BAL. The two are expected to explode and help the team get buckets. They have a lot of experience on the international scene and there is no doubt that the ball will be in their hands when the situation get tough.

Kasereka Tembo won the best 3-point shooter award for the 2024 season. He returned with Sommet in 2025 and we saw him be a more diverse player. On top of his shooting abilities and transition game, we saw him play at the one and he was very composed and showed that his court vision is good. In his first game with Sommet, he had 10+ assists and had less than 8 attempts from the field. This means that he is willing to facilitate others rather than get points on his own. In a stacked team like the Blazers, that is very important. He will be able to fit in, in whatever role that he is assigned. Whether shooting, facilitating, or controlling the floor, Tembo will come in handy.

Kevin Leonel Nyemeck is a Cameroonian big man who has played for the senior National team and also at the Road to BAL. Word has it that he is a hustler and that, coupled with his size, could be a game changer for the Blazers. He has yet to play for them and we shall be seeing how well he can fit in.
The Rezlife Saints added one player, Chris Omanye, who was with them in the 2025 season second round. Omanye is expected to add to the quality of depth in the squad more so at the point guard position.
JKL Dolphins’ new signing, Ichut Ring, has already caused problems for the opponents. Ichut averaged 13.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3.3 steals as the JKL Dolphins won 3 games in a row in the second round. He undoubtedly will put up other big performances in the season.
Sommet let go of Karabana Diaw, Hugo Kaseya, and Emeligba Abolahji. They replaced them with Gatwang Thuok, Puati Ozias Kikomba and Ainembabzi Darren. Darren made his debut against UCU and he had 5 points and 5 rebounds. Gatwang and Ozias have been available since the start of the second round but in the 5 games played, Sommet has won 2 and lost 3 straight.
In 2025, Sommet had a poor first round but turned their season around in the second round after signing Nyembo, Cheng and Tembo. This season however, they haven’t looked as good. In their 3 losses, they have averaged 55 points scored which is very low. Can they turn their season around more?
The UPDF Tomahawks added Austin from KCCA and Bolton from the City Oilers. The army side is trying to make sure that they ensure their survival. Are these the solution?
There will be a lot of drama in the NBL second round and the signings will be very integral in teams’ success or failures this season. The relegation battle is very interesting but also the battle of who finishes where will be exciting.
The City Oilers and the Namuwongo Blazers will be meeting on Friday 22nd May and this will be a part one of a potential finals series.
