The Women’s U23 3×3 Team won stop 4 to make it 3 of 4 stops won so far at the Youth Nations League in Benin.

The Ladies defeated Cote d’Ivoire 15-10 in the finals to mark their third win in four stops so far.

The men started the day with a superb 21-18 victory over Kenya.

Andrew Ssendawula, who had made his first appearance at the tournament scored 10 of Uganda’s 21 points and missed just 1 attempt from the field.

Coming into their second game, Uganda had one job to do, that is secure a victory  and head to the final

However, they were facing an Algerian side that had won the last 2 stops and getting past them was going to be a tough task.

Algeria won the game 21-11 and this meant that Uganda finished as number 4 in stop 4.

As things stand, the Uganda ladies are in a pretty good spot but the job is not yet done.

Finishing last in stop 2 was a very big setback for them and they need to keep up the pressure and the separation on Cote d’Ivoire.

If they win stop 5, they can put a maximum of 45 points between them and Cote d’Ivoire if the latter finishes in the final.

That means that even if Uganda finishes as number 4 in stop 6, they will still finish as the top team and qualify for the World Cup.

The men are in fourth place and a very long way from the leaders Algeria.

However, in 2024, the team that finished as number 2 (Benin men and women) also qualified for the World Cup and that means there’s so much to fight for.

If Uganda can win one of the remaining stops and finish in the final in the other or make the finals in both stops, the chances of finishing as number 2 are very high.
