The UPDF Lady Tomahawks registered their third consecutively victory after defeating the KCCA Leopards 48-44 at the Rezlife Park in Lubowa. This victory is massive because it is the first time that the army side has defeated the Leopards and the JKL Lady Dolphins in the same season.
Coming into the game, KCCA had been on a 4-game winning streak and this was expected to be another ease win for them. Additionally, they had gotten the services of Angellah Zainah Lokwameri who was making her season debut. On the other hand, the UPDF Lady Tomahawks were on a 3-game winning streak and were confident in their chances of taking down the Leopards.
After the first period, the UPDF Ladies were up 18-14. They were efficient from the field as they made 8 of their 11 2-point attempts in the quarter despite missing all their 5 3-point shot attempts. The KCCA Leoprads, on the other hand, scored just 6 of their 18 field goal attempts. Most importantly for UPDF, they limited Tracy Namugosa to 0 points and just 2 field goal attempts.
The second quarter was very low scoring as both teams scored a combined 17 points but UPDF still led the game 25-24 at the halftime break. There were no points scored by either team in the final 3 minutes of the quarter.
The game was decided in the third quarter were the KCCA Leopards scored just 4 points. They were scoreless for over 7 minutes and made 0 field goals. KCCA had more fouls (6) than point scored and missed more free throws (6) than points scored.
At the end of the quarter, the army side led the game 40-28 and a lot had to change for the KCCA Leopards if they were to make a successful title.
The KCCA leopards locked in and with less than 4 minutes left in the game, they were down by just 1 point. However, they did not score again in the game and the despite the game being so close, it was far away. KCCA had just 4 field goal attempts in the final 3:30 minutes of the game and lost the game 48-44.
Facts
This was the third game in which KCCA has not had a player score 10+ points this season. the UPDF Lady Tomahawks registered their first ever victory against the KCCA Leopards.

Both teams have already made the playoffs and it is a matter of who finishes were for them.
