The KCCA Leopards have shown that they are not here to participate but rather compete for the Championship after their wonderful first round performance.

They will close the first round as the number-one seed after their 75-67 victory over the defending Champions, the JKL Lady Dolphins, on Saturday 17th at Abja Park.

Both teams came into the game with incredible winning streaks and given that it was a decider, to some degree, the game was always going to be a seesaw.

The Lady Dolphins led the game 18-14 after the first quarter.

In the second, the Leopards had the edge, took it 19-17, and made it 35-33 in favor of JKL at halftime.

KCCA scored 10 points from turnovers in the second quarter alone and Tracy Namugosa finished with 13 points in the first half.

The difference in this game came in the third quarter.

KCCA got 8 steals while JKL registered 8 turnovers and were punished with 12 points from turnovers.

The Leopards took the quarter 25-17 to take a 6-point lead into the final quarter.

It is important to note that the Leopards made a 7-0 run in the third quarter but JKL also made an 8-0 of their own.

This was a sign that the game was still open and any team could make a run to make the game even more interesting.

In the first 2 minutes of the fourth, KCCA scored 5 unanswered points to take a 9-point lead and that was enough for them.

JKL tried to fight to come within touching distance and they were behind by 4 points but couldn’t catch up.

They collected 7 offensive rebounds in the final quarter but only managed to scored 3 second-chance points.

KCCA once again capitalized on the points from turnovers and they had 7 in the fourth quarter.

The biggest in this game was the turnovers that JKL committed (26) and the 40 points from turnovers that KCCA scored.

Those extra possessions helped KCCA alot and in this game, the Leopards had 10 more field goal attempts than JKL and that sums up the game.

In the third quarter, the Lady Dolphins missed 7 of 14 free throws and these turned out to be very crucial.

Those misses helped KCCA develop a significant lead and they never gave it up.

The JKL Lady Dolphins have registered their second lost of the season and now have a 7-2 record.

They close the first round on Sunday 18th against Nabisunsa at Abja Park.

The KCCA Leopards have closed the first round as the number one team with a 9-1 record.

Their only defeat came against the Miracle Eaglets in their second game of the season.
