In both the men’s and women’s categories, four teams battled it out on the field, vying for a spot in the finals,and the results certainly did not disappoint. The games unfolded with nail-biting action and unexpected twists at the Lugogo hockey grounds.

In the first match of the day, KHC Swans and Deliverance Church clashed in an exhilarating showdown. Swans exhibited a dominating performance in the ladies semifinal one, securing a commanding victory with a resounding score of 5-0.The game showcased standout performances from surprise goal scorers Carol Aguti and Sarah Arinaitwe, each netting a brace. Their exceptional contribution led the Swans to a dominant win, leaving both fans and critics in awe of their stunning display on the field. The result sets a high bar for the second leg, leaving Deliverance Church with an uphill battle to overturn the goal deficit.

Wananchi and Rockets took the pitch next, showcasing competition rather than a walk in the park as it would seem for a dominant Wananchi side in the men’s semifinal one. The game delivered an impressive display of skill and determination from both sides. In the end, Wananchi emerged victorious with a 4-2 scoreline. Their consistent offensive prowess proved to be the difference-maker, allowing them to secure a two-goal advantage ahead of the second leg.

Weatherhead faced off against KHC Stallions in a match that proved to be a nail-biter till the final whistle. The game witnessed tight defensive maneuvers and strategic offensive plays from both teams. In a closely contested encounter, Weatherhead managed to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over KHC. This slender lead sets the stage for an intense second leg, as KHC remains within striking distance to turn the tide in their favor.

The final match of the day saw Weatherhead Gazelles and Wananchi battle it out in a riveting contest that ended in a one all draw.The game got off to a flying start when Gazelles found the back of the net early on through talisman Hilda Balondemu, putting her team in the lead. However, the momentum shifted as Alimo Jolly, the star player of Wananchi on the Saturday evening, showcased her brilliance by scoring the equalizer from a penalty corner. Her timely goal injected renewed energy into the Wananchi side, who were determined to establish a foothold in the contest.As the match progressed, emotions ran high, with both teams pushing for a crucial lead. The tension reached its peak when a golden opportunity arose for the Gazelles to regain the lead. Anita, a key player in the Gazelles lineup, stepped up to take a penalty stroke. Anita’s penalty struck the post, leaving the Gazelles and their supporters in disbelief. The Wananchi side heaved a sigh of relief, knowing that they had narrowly escaped falling behind.With both teams walking away with a goal apiece, the second leg promises to be a showdown of epic proportions as they strive to break the deadlock and secure a spot in the Uganda Cup finals.

The stage is now set for the second leg matches which are slated for September 24th, where the teams will have another shot at glory and a chance to redeem themselves or consolidate their advantage.
