History was made on 25th May 2024 as the first flag football game was played in Uganda, the pearl of Africa.

The game was between Bulls Power American Football Club and the UPDF Giants and was played at Henry’s Sports Center in Kabalagala.

The two teams successfully organized and played the first flag football game in Uganda and this was aimed at unveiling a new era in Uganda Sport and encouraging people to jon and also spread awareness about Flag Football.

Although it was a friendly game, the players played their hearts out and put on a show for  the onlookers.

Bulls Power won the game 18:08 and they scored 3 touchdowns. Matia Jagwe, Josh Wenowe and Samuel were the men who scored the touchdowns for Bulls Powers and the UPDF Giants scored a single touchdown through Jireh Nyanga.

BULLS Power

Bulls power AFC is a group of coaches, players, journalists and Fans of the sport of American Football with a common goal of promoting, growing and providing equal opportunity to all the masses a chance to participate in the sport of American Football in Uganda.

It was formed in March 2024 and currently uses Makerere Rugby Grounds (aka the Graveyard) as its home ground. It has already been blessed with a major invitation to participate in the very first African MEGABOWL which will take place in Kenya on the 31st August 2024 where Teams from Kenya, South Africa and USA will take part.

UPDF Giants

The UPDF Giants is a dynamic and emerging American flag football team based in Uganda. Founded with the mission to promote and develop the sport within the country, the team is composed of dedicated athletes from the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) and the broader community.

Mission:
To advance the sport of flag football in Uganda, fostering teamwork, discipline, and athletic excellence while promoting healthy living and community engagement.


Vision:
To become a leading flag football team in Uganda and a model for sports development, inspiring the next generation of athletes.

The UPDF Giants are not only focused on sports but also on fostering a sense of unity and purpose among its members and the community. Through dedication and hard work, the team aims to achieve great success and set a high standard for flag football in Uganda.

To the surprise of many people, a couple of ladies were seen actively participating in the game and this goes a long way in showing that the game is not limited to any gender.

Namubiru Brenda was the only lady playing, and she featured for Bulls Power at the Center Position. The others included Flaviah Mugambwa who was a medic, Justine Nakabuga Sales Executive while Racheal Amutuhirwe is our Brand Ambassador for Bull Power.
