Team Uganda has assembled formidable squads to represent Uganda at the upcoming 2024 FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup starting on Friday, November 29, at the Palais des Sports Mahamasina in Antananarivo, Madagascar.
The men have a lot of experience while the women’s teams have a mixture of experience and the upcoming stars in Uganda.
Men’s Team
- Jimmy Enabu
- Tonny Drileba
- James Okello
- Joseph Chuma
Jimmy, Tonny, and James Okello were 3 of the longest servants for the City Oilers who recently left the team but their experience is a lot.
Tonny recently returned from injury and has been doing a lot of training.
He is also the only player who returns from the squad that represented in 2023 in Cairo where Uganda finished 7th.
The other 3, Fayed Baale, Titus Odeke, and Peter Obleng, had been preparing for Road to Bal, and Obleng will miss out on that due to some technical issues.
Women’s Team
- Akello Hope
- Perus Nyamwenge
- Agatha Kamwada
- Lydia Babirye
Akello Hope is the most senior player on this team having played since childhood and going as far as the 3×3 World Cup in 2018.
She’ll be expected to bring leadership on and off the court for the team.
She’s also the only player who returns from the 2023 team that represented in Cairo where finished in fourth position.
The other players that represented include; Ritah Imanishimwe, Shakirah Nanvubya and, Sarah Ageno.
Perus Nyamwenge and Agatha Kamwada represented at the 2023 3×3 Youth Nations League, but Uganda was unfortunate not to qualify for the World Cup. That experience was very vital for them and it will come in handy at this Africa Cup.
Lydia Babirye participated in 3×3 for the first time at the 2024 3×3 Youth Nations League in Kampala and she helped Uganda win and qualify for the World Cup.

She was also named the MVP after consistently putting up incredible performances.
Due to some reasons, she was unable to travel to Mongolia for the World Cup but she’ll get her first appearance for the Gazelles at the 3×3 continental stage.
10 men’s teams have been confirmed so far namely, Egypt, Benin, Madagascar, Algeria, Kenya, Mauritania, Rwanda, Central African Republic, Seychelles and Uganda.
For the ladies, 7 seven teams have been confirmed, Egypt, Kenya, Benin, Madagascar, Comoros, Rwanda, and Uganda.
