After a 2 weeks break, the second round of the NBL is in high gears and the fans couldn’t have asked for a better match up to start the campaign.

2022 NBL finalists City Oilers and Nam Blazers will lock horns while Lady Jaguars and JKL Dolphins will go toe to toe in the opener.

City Oil finished the first round with 100% record in the 11 games averaging 83 PPG (1st in league) and also being the only Men’s team to score a century (1) this season against Power.

Nam Blazers sits 3rd on the log with 8 wins and 3 losses in the first round, coming against, KIU Titans, UCU Canons and City Oilers.

Peter Cheng of the Blazers was the leading scoring in round 1 averaging 19.5 PPG whereas Ruai Luak (15.6) and Titus Lual (15.6) both of City Oiler followed closely behind.

Nam Blazers has 3 players in the top 10 rebounds per game Makiadi Micheal (11.5), Peter Cheng (10.4) and Soro Geoffrey (8.9) whereas City Oil only has one in Titus Lual (11.2).

It should be remembered also that the Namuwongo side gave the 8 time champion their most difficult game in round 1 limciting them to only 57 points (lowest) and 30% FG (lowest) of the season.

City Oilers has been the best offensive team shooting 51.4% 2P and 31.9 3P both 1st in the league. Nam Blazers has been trailing closely in both fields with 41.6 % 2P and 27.2% 3P.

The game is promising to be an end to end on both ends of the floor and given that fan base is enormous, the atmosphere at Lugogo will be a very vibrant one.

JT Lady Jaguars vs JKL Lady Dolphins opens the second round with both teams seeking victory to take top seed.

JKL and Lady Jaguars bossed the league both with 9 wins and 2 losses in the first round.

JKL has scored the most points in the league(858) averaging 78 PPG whereas Lady Jaguars 60 PPG (5th in the league).

JT Lady Jaguars won the first tie in a one point game 53:52 and the Dolphins look to revenge in the second round.

Dolphins star Ekone Brenda averages 19.6 PPG (2nd) whereas Jaguars star Sarah Ageno who is arguably the MVP so far averages 14.9 PPG , 13.3 RPG and 4.0 APG has been very effective on both ends of the floor propelling her team to success.

The big battle is expected to be in the paint between Akello Hope and Sarah Ageno who have all been defensive beasts.

Another big match up is between the coaches as to which tactics they will deploy to stop players such as Ekone Brenda who drives to the rim on almost all possessions and Angella Zainah Lokwameri who has been an excellent ball distributor.
