The Namuwongo Blazers announced their withdrawal from the on-going National Basketball League through their social media platforms on Tuesday 29th, July.

Following the announcement by FUBA that the Champions of the 2023 National Basketball League (men) shall not be considered to represent the country in the Basketball Africa League (BAL 2024-2025), the Namuwongo Blazers have come out to say that they have nothing to play for this season since their target was to qualify for the BAL competitions.
FUBA further states that reason for these changes is to align the Local activities with the International Calendar of events as they have previously been clashing.

Implications
With the regular season coming to an end, the shape of the final standings is almost very clear and different teams have already started to see their potential opponents and playoffs bracket.
Namuwongo Blazers finished in second place having completed all their twenty two games winning seventeen and losing five, the last game being a loss to already relegated Rezlife Saints.

With Nam Blazers pulling out, it’s yet to be determined if any other teams will also be taking the same direction and this would make things a little harder for the playoffs.
With the 8th place still up for grabs, JKL Dolphins, KCCA Panthers and UPDF are all still trying to secure that final spot in the playoffs.
In case FUBA is to take the 9th team to make it also to the playoffs, that means that the competition will be more intense as we head into the final 2 game weeks of the season as only 2 teams of the potential 3 can make the cut.

It is also yet to be determined if FUBA will take any action against Namuwongo Blazers as they are yet to come out with a formal communication.
With the decision of the appeal by Ndejje Angels also yet to announced, it’s certainly turbulent waters for FUBA as the pressure from the fans and different stake holders has intensified.
