The Namuwongo Blazers will be back in action after over five (5) months without competitive action. Their last league game was 62:88 loss to the Rezlife Saints on 28th August, 2023 and shortly after that, they pulled out of the playoffs despite having finished second in the regular season.

The fans favorite team, has made a number of serious transfers pointing to their ambitions of getting the 2024 title and potentially participating in 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL).

Rim protector Joseph Chuma and shooting guard Innocent Ochera both joined the Blazers from KIU while xperienced Forward, Michael Ngut joined from the Nine (9) time champions, City Oilers. The Blazers face a very tough test against a KIU Titans, who were the finalists in the 2023 season and have also added a lot to their roster.

Mr Nasser Serunjogi of the KIU Titans went shopping in Congo, not for Gold or Timber, but for basketball players that could potentially get the Titans their first ever title.

Of course, the first hurdle will be against the fan favorite and fellow contenders, the Nam Blazers and this is an opportunity for both teams to see where they lie in terms of strength of the roster and what improvements need to be made.

KIU Rangers lost key pieces from their squad, 2023 All star guards, Perus Nyamwenge and Uwineza Ninette both left for KCCA Leopards. They however added a couple of signings, youngster Maria Ndagire, Akeer Abraham, Aleesi Hope Musimenta, Alado Patricia and shooter Elizabeth Aguti.

The Rangers will be opening the season on day one against the JT Lady Jaguars whom they swept in the 2023 semifinals.

The Jaguars have also done a lot of house cleaning, letting go of some of their key pieces like Moreen Amoding and Zainah Lokwameri. They however made a couple of additions, Priscilla Nambogo and Tushemerirwe Ruth both from Nabisunsa and Mercy Batamuliza from Kampala University, all with experience in the league.

Both teams have made a lot of changes, pointing to their ambitions of the season. This match up will be a very interesting one but, can the Lady Jaguars manage to get revenge?

The 2023 Division 1 champions, UPDF Ladyhawks will be opening the season with against the YMCA Lady Hamstars whom they faced in the finals. The biggest take from this match will be, how can the Hamstars respond after the Ladyhawks took their best player, Elsy Khaboshe?

The army side has made a lot of recruits, prepping the team for a much tougher test but they will be going up against a familiar opponent on their first test.

It has been radio silence from the Wandegeya based institution in terms of transfers but rumors have it that they made a couple of surprise moves. Everything shall be brought to light on Friday at 3 as the game tips off.

2023 Division one champions, Livingstone shall also be in action, against a side they met 7 times in 2023. Despite losing in their first meeting, they managed to win the last 4 of 6, including the 3 games in the finals.

The Jaguars will come into the game with a chip on their shoulder, but the Stone City side will be ready for the Kira boys, given that both teams know how each play.

Jaguars made two (2) major signings, Chuma Fadhili (10.3 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 4.7 APG) from JKL Dolphins and Chol Dut (13.4 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 1.1 SPG, 1.6 APG) from Nkumba Marines. The duo shall add a lot more to the squad both defensively and offensively, and they could be the game changers in the opening game.

Livingstone added a lot of height to their roster, Kuol Kuol Micheal Deng who was previously in Kampala university (8 PPG, 11.1 RPG and 1.9 BPG), the major addition.

Livingstone know that they had the last laugh in 2023, Can they get the first laugh in 2024?
