KCCA Panthers won their second game of the season after edging Sommet 60-55 in the final game of game week 2.

Both teams came into the game on the back of victories in their season openers and they wanted to keep their streak alive.

Sommet led the game 23-17 after the first quarter but KCCA engaged another gear defensively after that.

For perspective, Sommet scored 9 field goals in the first quarter but only 11 in the remainder of the game.

In the second half, the Panthers employed a strategy similar to what they used against the Rezlife Saints and they managed to make a comeback.

Coach’s Reactions

KCCA Panthers Head Coach Raymond Muhumuza had this to say following his side’s victory.

“I think it came down to experience and managing the simple things right. I don’t think they (Sommet) had many attempts from 3 in the second half.

We felt like we had to be good at one thing, and we relied on defense in the paint and managed to get a couple of stops and control the large parts of the second half.”
