In the cace for the number two seed, the JT Jaguars got revenge against Sommet after a thumping 84-62 victory on Friday 25th at Lugogo.
In the first round, Sommet defeated the Jaguars 70-62 with Richard Mutawulu dropping 6 3-point shots.
Coming into this game, the Jaguars knew what was at stake. First and foremost, to position themselves as the number 2 seed and secondly to get revenge.
However, things didn’t start off according to plan.
Sommet started the game strong, taking a 21-13 lead after the opening quarter. They scored 3 3-point shots in that time and Mark Ngobi led in scoring with 7 points.
The Jaguars turned up defensively in the second quarter. They limited Sommet to just 5 of 23 field goals made.
Additionally, Sommet was poor of the free throw line as they scored just 5 of their 10 attempts in the quarter.
The Jaguars went into the halftime break with a 39-37 and they were with the momentum.
It was a close encounter in the third quarter until the final 2 minutes when the Jaguars pulled away.
They closed the quarter with a 7-0 run to make it a 9-point game with the fourth quarter left to play.
Ian Lubwama was unstoppable in the third quarter as he off for 12 points scoring 4 of 5 from the field.
In the first 5 minutes of the final quarter, Sommet was restricted to just 2 points and the Jaguars established a 17-point lead.
Their was no fight left in Sommet and the Jaguars went on to win the game 84-62.
George Agasi scored 15 points in the second half alone and he has continued to show how valuable he is to this Jaguars side.
