Spain made history as they qualified for their first ever Fifa Women’s World Cup Final after they defeated Sweden in what was a dramatic last minutes of the game.

The game started off quiet as both teams were unable to create goal scoring opportunities but it is the Swedish who came close in the first half with a shot by Fridolina Rolfoe but the Goal Keeper Catalina Coll was alert to keep it out.
Spain turned up the gears in the second half, but still couldn’t create a scoring opportunity and had 0 efforts om target.
Substitute Salma Paralluelo opened the scoring with a powerful were placed snapshot in the 81st minute and put one foot of the Spaniards in their first ever world Cup Finals.

The Swedish however were not done yet as substitute Lina Hurtig did brilliantly to find Rebecka Blomqvist who leveled the game with a beautiful volley in the 88th minute.
All looked like we’d be heading to extra time but 94 seconds later, the Spanish took the lead once again.

A well worked short corner to find Captain, Olga Carmona outside the box who the powerfully hit with the left foot and the Goal Keeper couldn’t keep it out.
Sweden tried to pull one back in added time but the Spanish defence was able to hold on and the Spaniards made history.
Spain joins Germany as the only country to have both Men’s and women’s teams make it to the World Cup Final and they can once again join Germany, to be the only 2 teams whose Men and Women team have lift the World Cup trophy.
They will be playing the Finale on Sunday but in the meantime they await who they will take on between England and co-hosts Australia, who play each on Wednesday.
