Sommet are on a brink of being swept after Watoto went up 2:0 in the 2023 FUBA Division 2 Finals.

A lot could be pointed out towards Sommet failures such as giving up with 50 seconds left, yet it was a 4 point game. The lack of fight more so in the paint, giving up 14 offensive rebounds and the lack of ability to take care of the basketball, giving away 18 turnovers.

Credit has to be given to Watoto for their cohesiveness and passion while on the floor. The boys play with so much energy and it could be seen that they wanted the game more than their opponents.

Watoto started the game with so much fire and efficiency. They missed just 1 of the 11 attempted shots, 91% FG.

Watoto slowed down significantly, they registered 6 turnovers and 0 points in the first 4 minutes of the second quarter. Sommet was also inefficient and thus couldn’t punish Watoto.

Watoto soon went back into sync and went on a 10:0 run to create a 13 point lead, their largest of the game.

The second half was much more even as Sommet tried to come back in the game. There was a lot of tension and a dramatic finish to the game as Sommet had a chance to force overtime.

With about 2:30 left, Watoto had an 8 point lead and it was looking comfortable for them until Valerie Balobebwami Chikuru drilled 2 back to back 3 point shots to make it a 2 point game with 2:00 left.

Sommet seemed to have given up with about 40 seconds left until they got a lifeline. Hijah Morisho got the lay up and the foul and had a chance to miss the free throw, get the offensive and tie the game. He instead hit the ball sideways on the board and Watoto got the possession.
