The Saturday action of the NBL game week 17 had a couple of upsets and a shift in the relegation battle discussion.
The UPDF Lady Tomahawks upset A1 Challenge in the day opener with a 50:40 victory against them to make it back-to-back wins for the army side.
A1 Challenge had 28 turnovers, 12 more than UPDF and the Lady Tomahawks were very active on defense, getting 20 steals. With the extra possessions, UPDF had 69 attempts whilst A1 had just 51.
Kush Nakazzi led the scoring with 16 points while Dorah Nakijjoba (11) and Stella Marris Lunkuse (10) each had 10+ rebounds. Sharua Nakirya was the only player of the A1 Challenge with double-digit scores and she finished with 13 points.

Nabisunsa registered their first win in the second round and it came against last-placed Kampala University. Kampala University led the game by 6 after the first quarter but from there onwards, Nabisunsa outscored them in the remaining quarters.
Mpoza Abigail showed her scoring prowess finishing with 20 points while Keturah Joy had a game to remember as she had a game-high 17 rebounds and 5 assists. Sarah Namale was active defensively, with 14 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 assists, and 4 steals to her name.
KIU Rangers’ loanee Maria Ndagire led the scoring for Kampala University with 13 points while Pennita Nabakooza had a team-high 10 rebounds.
Miracle ravens returned to winning ways after defeating the YMCA Lady Hamstars in their own backyard. The Lady Hamstars gained momentum as the first half winded down and during the third quarter, they had Miracle ravens by the ropes.
They made an 8:0 run and took a 5-point lead but the Ravens scored late to make it a 2 point game heading into the fourth quarter. It was a seesaw game in the fourth quarter with the teams exchanging leads and the game tied a couple of time but the ravens managed to see it off after scoring late free throws.
Akello Winnifred finished with 22 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks. Brenda Alyano was doing her thing offensively, with 21 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. Namukose Specioza put in a solid shift, 15 rebounds, 6 points, and 3 steals.
Rose Adhiambo scored a team-high 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist while Akello Scovia (15 points, 21 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Amy Chan Grace (12 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block) each finished with a double-double.

Despite fielding 8 players, with 2 coming late, the Kampala Rockets managed to defeat Livingstone and make it 5 wins in 6 second-round games. Christian Ndibu and Ola Simon did most of the damage in the first half and Ruai Luak was a beast in the second. Kampala Rockets won the game in the third quarter after they made an 11-0 run to take a 13-point lead.
Ruai Luak finished with his season-high 28 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 1 block. Christian Ndibu was the biggest difference, 11 points, 18 rebounds, 1 assist and 4 steals while Ola Simon had 11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
Osca Byomuhangi led the scoring for Livingstone with 15 points all from 3-point range while Bismarck Okot added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists.
The JKL Dolphins registered a huge victory against the KCCA Panthers and slightly titled the relegation survival conversation in their favor. They have now won 4 of 6 games in round 2 and now have more wins than Power, Livingstone and Ndejje Angels.
It was an overall team performance from the JKL Dolphins and they had 5 players in double digit scores. Sam Gombya was sensational and he finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and 1 block. Austin Odiwuor also had a double-double, 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists. Kabangu Clement had a team-high 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals while Guddi Nasser impressed with 17 points, 7 steals and 1 assist to his name.
Emmanuel Odong had a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds while Caesar kizito (17) and Rin Tueny Mabor (10) were the only other Panthers in double-digit scores.
