UMU Flames ended their 6-game losing streak with a 107-101 victory in a thriller that was decided in triple overtime.
The Tomahawks dominated the first quarter, winning 21-11.
They made 5 3-pointers in the first quarter, Henry Okoth with 3 of those and he finished with 11 points at the end of the quarter.
Both teams were even in the second quarter and it was 28-38 during the halftime break.
There wasn’t difference a big between the second and third for both teams and with one period left, UPDF led by 11 points.
UMU Flames turned up the heat offensively in the fourth.
They went on a 13-2 run in the first 3 minutes of the quarter to tie the game.
The Tomahawks responded with an 8-0 run of their own but UMU started capitalizing from the free-throw line and they soon took the lead.
In the final 3 minutes of the quarter, UMU Flames attempted 16 free throws and they managed to score 11 of them which helped them a lot.
Drama unfolded in the final 20 seconds of the fourth quarter.
Gordon Gai was sent to the Free-throw line with a chance of making it a 3-point game but he missed one and that gave UPDF a lifeline.
After a timeout, UPDF also got a foul and Henry Okoth had a chance to tie the game but he missed 1 of the free-throws.
However, a few seconds later, Musime Collins was also fouled and had a chance to give UPDF the lead with 9 seconds left.
He made the first and missed the second and the game went onto overtime.
In overtime one, UMU led by 4 points with less than 50 seconds left but they were unable to close out the game.
Rubahimbya Jesse missed 2 huge free throws late in the game, and Ernest Nasasira missed a free throw, which would have made it a 3-point game.
After that miss, Felix Mukunzi collected the rebound and tied the game very late to send it to double overtime.
Once again, UMU led by 4 with less than a minute to go somehow, UPDF managed to score late and took a 2-point lead with less than 10 second left.
Emmanuel Kalimuzo made a huge lay up for UMU with the final play of the game to send it to triple overtime.
This time around, UMU made sure to seal out the game and they won 107-101.

This was the second game to be decided in Triple Overtime this season the first having been between Watoto and Entebbe Knight Riders.

On Sunday 3rd November, UMU returned to action against Old Tymers and they managed to make a second-half comeback to secure a 5-point victory.
Old Tymers led the game 29-21 at the halftime break, but UMU turned them defensively in the third, limiting them to just 8 points.
In turn, they scored 21 and took a 5-point lead, later securing a 64-59 win.
