The women’s final set the stage with a fierce battle between defending champions Kampala Swans and Wananchi—a replay of last year’s finale.
Having already secured the National League trophy, Wananchi sought to upset their rivals, who had defeated them 3-0 in this same fixture last year.
However, despite missing last year’s MVP Sanne Swinkels, and a couple of other players, the Swans proved their mettle.
Substitute Sarah Arinaitwe scored the decisive goal, skillfully tapping in a well-executed shot from Winnie Alaro.
Young goalkeeper Rehema Ahairwe stood out in goal, delivering crucial saves with Winnie Nandi as well as boasting the defense that ensured Kampala defended their title with a narrow but well-earned victory.

In the men’s final, Wananchi faced off against Kampala Stallions in another heated showdown. The Stallions, narrowly missing out on the National League trophy, hoped to salvage their season with a win but Wananchi wanted to win it all.
Jackson Musinguzi opened the scoring with a powerful penalty corner drag, followed by Innocent Tumukunde’s goal in the 41st minute.
Shafiq Byamukama and Nicholas Lukwago extended the lead to 4-0, leaving the Stallions scrambling.
Despite late goals from Jordan Mpiima, who secured his place as the tournament’s top scorer with 11 goals, and Richard Ssemwogerere, Wananchi sealed the deal with a commanding 4-2 victory.
With their win, the Wananchi men completed a remarkable quadruple this season, adding the Uganda Cup to their UHA Shield, Independence Cup, and National League titles.
