The UCU Lady Canons completed the double over the Magic Stormers with a 60-53 in a tough where they trailed at halftime.

In the last 4 meeting between these sides, the biggest winning margin had been 10 and with how both teams in those games, you’d expect a lot of competition and the game delivered exactly that.

Both teams scored 3 points shots each in the opening quarter but it was the Magic Stormers who led the game 20-16.

For almost 4 minutes in the second quarter, neither team scored a point.

Magic Stormers also missed 6 free throws and this came back to bite them later.

Nonetheless, they scored 3 baskets to make it a 10-point lead for them.

In more than 5 minutes, the Lady Canons hadn’t scored a point but they managed to make a 13-4 run to cut their deficit to 1 point at halftime.

The third quarter was gut-wrenching to watch due to the number of turnovers.

There was a total of 28 turnovers in the quarter each team with 14 and neither team got in rhythm.

It wasn’t surprising that a total of only 23 points was scored but the carelessness put off many.

Nonetheless, the UCU Lady Canons took the lead, 42-40, heading into the fourth quarter.

With 3:27 left in the game, the Stormers trailed by 2 points but the Canons scored 10 unanswered points to make it a 12-point lead with 1:47 left.

Hajara Najjuko scored 2 huge 3-point shots and a lay up in that run and that was enough for the Lady Canons to see out the game and win it 60-53.
