Game week 16 unfolded yet more drama and shock results but some teams continued to exert their dominance and show why they shouldn’t be counted out.
The Kampala Rockets opened the game week against the KCCA Panthers and the latter just edged them out.
The relegation battle was stirred up once more as the Kampala Rockets won their second game of the week against JKL Dolphins. Both teams fielded only 7 players, Rockets had 4 of the starters in double digits while JKL had 3.
The Dolphins had slight edge in the first quarter but the Rockets soared high in the 2nd and they never looked back.
Gideon Kasasa led the scoring for Rockets with 22 with Francis Kasinde (17) and Adut Mayer (15) following closely. Denis Tom Omara led scoring with 27, while Austin Oduwour (17) followed for JKL.
The biggest game of the week was the UCU Canons against the Nam Blazers on Friday night. It was an evenly matched contest until the third quarter when all came crumbling down.
The Blazers took the 3rd quarter 23:11 to make it a 13 point game and the Canons had no response there onwards. The Canons had 21 turnovers, 7 coming in the 3rd and this was one of the sparks for the Blazers.

The Blazers then made it 8 wins in a row after demolishing the KCCA Panthers 42:76 in the final game of the game week. The Namuwongo side once more showed off their depth, giving other players more time while the likes of Jimmy Williams, Chris Omanye and Makiadi Micheal were rested.

Chuol Nyuot was player of the game with 11 pts, 10 rebs, 4 ast and 5 blocks. Peter Cheng led scoring with 20 pts, wadaya Blair with 18.
City Oilers was back in full force after a week break, they tore the D Mark Power apart firing from every angle. They shot 15/33 3 point shots, and were 66% 2P.
The Oilers started the game strongly as expected and the point difference just kept expanding more and more as the game progressed.

Titus Lual was a beast on the floor dropping 23 pts and 14 rebs. He also registered 75% FG and 87% 2P. Fayed Baale showed why he was acquired dropping 12 points all from beyond the arc. Puati Ozias of Power continued his string of double doubles, dropping 10 pts & 16rebs.

The Canons got yet another shocker as the struggling UPDF edged them on Sunday in a low scoring game to make it 4 losses in a row. This has left so many questions as to what could have happened with the NBL giants.
The Army side had took early lead in the first quarter and went into the final quarter with a 7 point lead. They were very keen to protect their lead and despite the Canons hardwork, they couldn’t get the best of the Tomahawks.

Andrew Garang was named Player of the game with a 11pts, 11 rebs, 2 ast, 2 stl and 2 blks. Felix Mukunzi (12) and Michael kojjo led the scoring for the ay side.
Peter Sifuma who missed the Nam Blazers game was back stronger dropping a double double, 10 pts and 20 rebs. Lwabaga Ibanda led the scoring with 16 points.
