The Nile Special 7s are back and this weekend the “men in charge” the Stanbic Black Pirates will be hosting at the Rujumba 7s at King’s park Arena.
The Black Pirates have been the team to beat thus far having won the first 2 circuits in Jinja and Kitgum.

Having had a 2 weeks break, the players look to be fresher and more fit, for this circuit as many teams seek to improve their current positions.
The Kobs who won last year’s Rujumba sevens are among the top teams expected to be better and go for Gold.
The return of National Sevens team Captain Ian Munyani, who has missed the first 2 circuits is expected to boost the squad greatly and get them over the line.
Ian brings so much leadership, skills, experience and so much more and the Kobs have missed out on the trophies, losing to Pirates in the Finale in Jinja and a controversial loss to the Hippos in the semifinals in Kitgum.
This could be the game changer for the Kobs who seek get their first trophy at this year’s circuit.
The other teams that could likely cause an upset are the Heathens who have also been knocking on the door.
The Impis also put up a very good fight, leading the Pirates in the first half but eventually losing in the in Overtime.
The Jinja Hippos who won last year’s National 7s circuits overall reached the finals in Kitgum and if they are to make a repeat of last year, Rujumba 7s is a very big opportunity to try to reduce the gap between the and the Pirates.

A lot of action is expected in the women’s category too with the Avengers seeking to get a sweet revenge against the Black Pearls.
Emily Lekuru who has scored 10 tries so far is expected to battle with Sarah Kirabo (who has scored 7 tries so far, for the top try scorer awards.

Veteran Charlotte Mudoola who was perfect (13/13) last weekend is also expected to put on a show to help her team Black Pearls make it 2 in 2.
