Victoria University has so far been very dominant in the two circuits played of the Varsity 7s and are yet to lose a game.

During the first circuit, they conceded only a single try coming against Makerere in the finals. However, during the second circuit at Kyambogo, they conceded 4 tries, 2 coming against MUBS in a very tight contest that ended 22:12. It should be noted that during that game, Victoria received 3 yellow cards and it weakened them a lot.

Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi came firing hard in the second circuit having played just one game at the UCU circuit.

They managed to reach the Finals but were not strong enough for the star studded Victoria who made easy work of them.

Makerere 1 was very underwhelming winning just one game and failing to make it past the group stages. Despite the return of Moses Olweny, the team still looked like they weren’t in sync and they never looked sharp.

The big question one is, Can Victoria University win all the circuits?

During an interview with their Captain Emma Ochan, he told 2bob sports “we want to win all the circuits and the whole thing”. And with the way their team is playing, no one can argue that they can achieve that target.

Only 3 University look like they have enough fire power to try and cause a threat.

Kyambogo University has finished 3rd in all the two circuits and are now placed second in the overall standings. Despite the consistency, Kyambogo doesn’t really have enough experience in their team and this means it’s very difficult to pause a threat. To make matter once, their star player Allan Olango who was training with the National team got an injury and may not partake in the Varsity 7s.

Makerere University is a side that has always had star players but with the performance from the 2nd circuit, you can easily tell that there’s something lacking. They have the players though they aren’t as experienced as Victoria University. Makerere has lacked the services of Shimwa Davis and Sydney Gongodyo but Sydney will be back for them in the upcoming circuit.

Uganda Martyrs University is the team that acquired now “famous” rugby twins Arthur Opio and Arnold Ocen. The duo has blistering pace and once they break the lines, it’s very hard to catch up. UMU had a good outing though they were given a reality check in the Finale against Victoria University.

In an interview with the 2, they highlighted on their teams weaknesses and how they work and strength up if they are to defeat V.U.

Current table standings

The third circuit will be hosted by Victoria University at Kyadondo Rugby Grounds this Saturday and it’s already causing a lot of debate as to if V.U can lose at home.
