During the 19th AUUS Games held at Uganda Christian University in Mukono, there was something different that the hosts and organizers added to the already starked menu of events.
There was a lot of night action in Basketball, Volleyball and some Netball.
What particularly stood out was the Night Basketball, which attracted thousands of fans to marvel at the stars shining on the floor under the lights. Three games stood out very much, Victoria University vs UCU women, UCU vs Nkumba and Ndejje vs Bugema both semi finals fixtures.

With the Lugogo indoor Arena set to be demolished in 2024, Uganda basketball will need a new home and probably a new format.
In the past, night basketball has been played on mostly Wednesdays and Fridays at Lugogo indoor and YMCA Arena.

YMCA has been a home for Uganda Basketball for decades and a lot of history has been made at that Arena. The problem though is, YMCA is long due for an overhaul and with action set to be away from Lugogo, it will be looked at as the potential host for the NBL in 2024.
YMCA is also used by clubs, Division 1 and Division 2 and sharing it with NBL will mean that things could get a bit difficult and FUBA will have to look at different options.

With the facilities at UCU, FUBA should look into cracking a deal with them to see some games hosted their. This will also helped tap into a different fan base, the students and people around Mukono.
This same applies for Abja Parks, home of Namuwongo Blazers. During the 2023 season, the venue was supposed to host a number of games but unfortunately things did not go according to plan. The place is very conducive for night outdoor basketball action and it can attract fans around to come, thus bringing in more revenue and supporters to the game.

As i conclude, i think it’d be in FUBA’s best interest to seek out new venues that can not only host basketball but bring a whole enjoyable and memorable experience to the fans.
