Talking points
Fighting Spirit
The KIU Titans conceded defeat with over 40 seconds left on the clock yet it was a 9-point lead.
One could say they gave up a little early, but maybe something would have changed. However, the KIU Titans showcased what they are made of after fighting from down 11 in the third quarter and eventually taking the lead.
That kind of resilience and always staying within touching distance is what many of the KIU Titans players and fans would be proud of.
Battle Rebounds
One of the biggest positives for the KIU Titans was the fact they picked up 8 more rebounds than the City Oilers. Most importantly, they had 16 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second-chance points while City Oilers only had 6 and scored 5 second-chance points.
The fact that the had multiple people chip in was massive for them. 6 of the 9 players that day had 5+ rebounds and they is a very positive sign ahead of game 2.
Individual Brilliance
In game one, the KIU Titans did not have many players producing offensively. Peter Obleng and Joel were the only fired-up players, and they carried the team’s offense throughout.
The City Oilers had a couple of players chipping in here and there but the points Petty Parish scored were key.
Just like in game 3 against UCU, he scored 4 3-point shots off the dribble, and trying to stop him from that will be very key for the KIU Titans.
