Kobs has been a laughing stock for wearing their Guinness-sponsored jersey inside out due to the Nile Breweries sponsorship of the Uganda Rugby Championship and using their B side’s kit last season.

However, just like the bible says in 2nd Corinthians, The old has passed away, behold the new has come.

It was the dawn of a new chapter for them on Thursday 20th February as they unveiled their new home and away kit as part of their renewed partnership with KCB Bank.

The partnership between KCB Bank and KOBs started in 2023 and this time around, they renewed it with a 195 million Shillings cash boost to help the 13-time Champions fight for the Championship a&gain.

KOBs Chairperson Prof. Stone Luggya was very elated about this renewed partnership and kit;

“I want to thank KCB Bank for standing with us since they took on this sponsorship in 2023. This financial injection will go a long way in helping the club manage the various logistics needed for success both on and off the field” Prof. Stone said

“I’m very excited about the new kit. With this new jersey, I am confident that the players will step onto the field in high spirits, ready to deliver   the results we need to bring success back to this great club” he added

KCB Bank’s Head of Marketing, Diana Komukama Ssempebwa talked about their commitment to supporting KOBs.

“I am proud to stand before you and reaffirm our commitment to this great team in their pursuit of success this season. The partnership between KCB Bank and KOBs is one we deeply value as both brands share a commitment to excellence and community impact through sports and finance”

Kobs Captain Derrick Tukwasibwe talked about what the jersey means and about the design;

“The kit is symbolic of our history. With the design of the jersey, we have gotten a chance to show what we are made of. The design embodies our unwavering commitment to excellence on and off the pitch”

He also talked about their highly anticipated game against the Black Pirates;

“We have done our best in preparing for the game. We are in it for the win amd we believe the jersey will be a big motivation”

Kobs are currently in fourth place with 4 wins and 1 loss, and they host the Stanbic Black Pirates in their next outing.

After their 22-point comeback win against the Heathens, the Black Pirates are the team to beat but Prof. Stone is hoping for their side to stop the sea robbers.

“Last year it was a close game but our defense had a bit of issues and infringements cost us”

“Pirates is on fire after the win against Heathens but we hope to cool that fire down”

KCB KOBs and Stanbic Black Pirates is now known as the “bankers gala”.

Who will come out on top as both teams tussle on Saturday 22nd February at Legends?

The match kicks off at 4:00 pm, but Kobs 2  and Pirates 2 shall be the curtain raiser at 12:00 pm; Rhinos will then host the Elgon Wolves at 2:00pm, and finally, the long-awaited game.
