After defeating Angels in the overtime of game 5 in the semifinals, Our Savior Banyabo qualified to play in the 2025 National Basketball League (NBL)
They went on to win the 2024 FUBA Division One Championship after defeating Nkumba Lady Marines in game 7 and everyone was excited for them.
However, prior to the playoffs in January, a poster had been released about the potential sale of the men’s side and even though the Banyabo went on to compete in the playoffs, a dark cloud of uncertainty had been looming over their heads.
What would be the next step for them? Would they be able to play in the NBL?

Those questions became increasingly difficult to answer as the deadline for the registration of NBL teams approached.
Banyabo had no activity going on for a while after the victory but they kept the faith and hope that eventually something positive would emerge.
Unfortunately, nothing did and the owners decided to pull out.
The Men’s team had sold their NBL slot to Sommet and the ladies also took a decision.
Our Savior Banyabo received just 10 basketballs from Angels and as a result, Angels replaced them in the NBL.
10 basketballs may seem like a small return that isn’t worth it but would you rather the place gets taken up for nothing?
Our Savior management had decided to call it quits and the longer they waited for a potential buyer, who wasn’t coming, the longer they kept their players and other stakeholders waiting.
Pulling the plug was what was next and they decided to do so and go with the 10 basketballs.
While speaking to the proprietor of Our Savior Basketball, Kelly Mukisa Martin, he revealed that they had achieved some of their initial goals and despite this being not a good ending, he is proud of the work and impact they have done in Ugandan Basketball.
