The Uganda Basketball mid-season transfer window officially opened on 18th May and will be closing on 18th Jun.

Currently, the NBL has only 2 games left to close the first round while Division One and Two are heading for Game Week 4.

FUBA promised that there would be a central region league, and as of now, it will tentatively be starting in July which is outside this transfer window.

Most NBL teams are expected to be in the market to bolster their squads so that they can have a legitimate chance at contending for the championship.

The City Oilers have been very disappointing in the first round having finished with a losing 5-6 record.

It is a team that will definitely be in the market and rumors have it that we could see Petty Paris back for them.

With the injury of Titus Lual, the Oilers could also be hunting for center.

While discussing with a close source from the Namuwongo Blazers camp, they revealed that the team shall be having a couple of additions.

It is unknown which part of their roster they will be adding but we shall be seeing some new faces.

In an interview with Livingstone CEO Mr. Ahmed Kamoga, he revealed that they will not be adding new pieces.

However, given Livingstone’s current state, it is very hard to see them surviving relegation without the addition of new players.

They won just 1 of 11 games in the first round, and if they are to survive relegation, they may need about 7-8 wins in the second round.

Without new players, that is an impossible task for the current Livingstone squad.

One already confirmed transfer is that of Chris Omanye to the Rezlife Saints.

Chris has been on the sideline of the Rezlife Saints this year, even during the FUBA Division One playoffs, and it is no surprise that he has signed for them.

The other intriguing player is Ivan Muhwezi who fell out with the City Oilers.

In an interview on NBS Sport, Ivan said that he has been training with another team and will be in action for the second round.

Some say he could be headed to the Namuwongo Blazers but he hinted about playing for Ihoops in Division One.

Which direction he chooses to go will be very interesting but many teams in the NBL could need his services.

Another big name is expected to make moves is the 2024 season Top Scorer Peter Cheng.

Cheng left the Namuwongo Blazers and has been unattached since.

Word has it that he is finalizing a deal and trained with Sommet a couple of times.

Keys things to note in the transfer window

1. Each team shall only be allowed a maximum of 3 additional players to the official team roster. (For a team that has already filled its roster with eighteen (18) Players, it shall be required to reduce the same by three (3) spots in order to accommodate the new
   additional three (3) players being registered.
2. All Teams MUST communicate in writing to the Competition Council (CC) and Competitions Manager (CM) as well for any replacements.
3. A player shall only be eligible for Transfer after consent of all parties involved.
4. All Players based outside the country shall only be eligible to register in this window after grant of the LOC from FIBA per the competition Rules 2025.
5. Any player moving from Lower Leagues (Div 1 and 2) to NBL or signed by an NBL team shall immediately upon receipt of consent from the releasing team, cease playing for that Lower league team and the same shall apply for any players leaving the NBL to sign for Lower division teams. They shall not play in Round II of the NBL and
   shall only wait for Round II of the Lower division to tip off before they are fielded.
6. For avoidance of doubt, No Player shall be approved to be added beyond the deadline date 18th June 2025(mid night).
