The Gazelles defeated Egypt 74-63 in their own backyard to secure a ticket to the 2025 Women’s Afrobasket in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The Gazelles had earlier fallen 62-65 to the hosts, Egypt in a very tight group phase game but they managed to take care of business in the final and secured a comfortable victory.

Uganda led 19-18 after the first quarter but a defensive masterclass in the second gave them an  11-point lead heading into the halftime break.

Uganda upped their defense and limited Egypt to just 3/12 field goals in the second quarter.

Uganda did really well when it comes to cleaning the boards and they out-rebounded Egypt 16-10 in the second alone and also managed to score 8 second chance points.

Egypt tried to cut the lead early in the third quarter but Uganda had responses for everything that was thrown at them.

Zama scored 6 points in the quarter but Jane Asinde continued her incredible performance.

She made 3 assists,  scored 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 blocked shot.

By the end of the quarter, Uganda led the game 61-45 and it was going to be a very long way back for Egypt.

Uganda scored the 5 first points of the quarter to make it a 21-point game and at this point, Egypt needed a miracle.

Despite efforts to make a comeback, it was a little too late and Uganda managed to seal the victory 74-63.
