Owekitisa Dr. Joseph Muvawala, the Katukiro of Busoga Kingdom in conjunction with the Walukuba Barbarians and Uganda Rugby Union Executives officially launched the 2024 Kyabazinga 7s.
In an event at Kati Kati Restaurant on Monday 1st September, Owek. Dr. Muvawala represented the Kyabazinga in the launch of the fourth Kyabazinga 7s.
This shall be a part of the celebrations to welcome the new born twins of the Isebantu and Inhebantu and also the 11th Kyabazinga coronation.

The Prime Minister highlighted what Sports and Walukuba meant to the Kingdom.
“Sports team are most powerful when they represent community and represent an identity” he said.
“Walukuba is a very important part in Busoga. Walukuba represents the best of Busoga”
He emphasized the Kingdom’s support to Rugby.
“As a kingdom, we stand for unity. My presence here shows our commitment, and we’ll do whatever it takes to support rugby”
On a lighter note, he hoped that the new Princes would get involved in the future.
“I’m hoping that the 2 Princes will play Rugby one day” he concluded on a lighter note.
The General Secretary of URU, Peter Odong also spoke about what Walukuba Barbarians means to them.
“Walukuba Barbarians is a team that is up to the task of pushing the game of Rugby” he pointed out.

The Walukuba Barbarians will head into this circuit while top of the table standings.
Their Chairperson Waiswa Simon Peter warned the teams ahead of the circuit.
“We are ready to host you and beat you” Waiswa warned.
In 2024, the Barbarians reached the finals but fell the Platinum Credit Heathens in overtime.
This time around, they are hoping to retain their home circuit for the first time.
The game shall be taking place on the 6th and 7th at the Bugembe stadium but before that, there shall be a legacy program.
After that, there will be more celebrations in Jinja as they prepare for the celebrations of the 11th Coronation of the Kyabazinga.
