The UCU Lady Canons extended their unbeaten streak to 8 games after edging the UPDF Lady Tomahawks 66-55 on Wednesday 25th at Lugogo.

This was a game in which the odds were heavily tilted towards the Lady Canons but their start worried some.

Lady Canons’ stars, Martina Anyango, Mariam Namukwaya, Sylivia Nakituuka and Sylivia Nantongo all started from the bench and UCU was outscored 16-13 in the first quarter.

Some of the UCU big guns were introduced in the second quarter and the difference was significant. UPDF scored just 2 points in the first 8 minutes of the quarter while UCU scored 17 to take a 12-point lead.

However, as the quarter winded down, the army side scored 7 unanswered points to cut the deficit to 5 points. The game was 30-25 at halftime.

UPDF started the third quarter strong and took the game to the Lady Canons. That worked, only to a certain point. Midway through the game, UCU made a 13-1 record to regain a 12-point lead. UPDF did not score a field goal in over 7 minute of the third quarter.

UCU led by as many as 16 points with under 5 minutes to play but the Lady Tomahawks weren’t done yet. Patricia Nakiru hit back-to-back triples to breathe some back into the army side. They went on to cut the deficit to 8 points with under 1:30 left but the Lady canons managed to see out the game.
