The Platinum Credit Heathens are now top of the standings of the Nile Special 7s after their big victory at the Kyabazinga 7s.

The Heathens have put a bit of separation between them and the Black Pirates who finished out of the top 4 while the Heathens made it back-to-back circuit wins.

The Heathens had to overcome the Walukuba Barbarians, the hosts in the finals in a game that was decided in overtime.

The Barbarians had defeated the Jinja Hippos, 19-10 in the semifinals and were intent on making a repeat of the 2023 Tororo 7s were they defeated the Heathens in the finals.

Ahmad Ssekyanzi opened the scoring for the Barbarians just before halftime and they were very much in control.

In the second half, their defense was solid and they had most of the possession. They even came close to scoring a second but the Heathens managed to defense ferociously and repelled them away.

With the final play of the game, their was a lapse in the defense by Walukuba and Nobert Okeny who had gotten through to the try area offloaded to Aaron Ofowyrwoth who was closer to the poles and the game went to sudden death.

Nobert Okeny finally got his moment, scoring in the corner for the winner.

The result that saw many ululations  sounded around the pitch was the Black Pirates’ 19:24 loss to the Jinja Hippos in the quarter-finals.

After being down by 2 tries, the Jinja Hippos managed to come back and scored the equalizer between the poles at the stroke of Full Time.

In overtime, Ayman Bagalana delivered the dagger after breaking the line and running 70 meters to score in the corner.
