The Namuwongo Blazers will be playing in the Road to BAL 2026, marking their first appearance at the tournament.
According to reports, the team is set to fly to Dar es Salaam, where the games will be played, on Wednesday 15th.
Earlier, it had been indicated that the champions of Burundi, Dynamo and the champions of Tanzania, Dat City, would be in the same group with the Blazers.
However, due to the ban that was put on the Burundi Basketball Federation (FEBABU), Dynamo had to be withdrawn.
They were replaced by Comoros side Djabal Club.
The 3 teams will be facing off, 1 game against each opponent and the top 2 will be advancing to the next stage, the Elite 16.
Nam Blazers new signings
The Namuwongo Blazers have added a couple of players and they are looking to get the job done and advance to the next stage.
One of the players they added is American born guard John Murry who has been playing in China.
During the 2025 BCL Asia- East season, he averaged 20.8 points, 5 rebounds and 3.2 assists.
He also played at the previous Road to BAL with Kadji Sports Academy and he averaged 9.3 points, 2 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals.
Nigerian Joseph Obasa is the other player that the Blazers have added.
Just like Murry, he played in the BCL Asia- East for the NS Matrix Deers.
He averaged 12.3 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1 assist.
In 2024, he played alongside Murry for Kadji Sports Academy in the Road to BAL 2025.
He averaged 9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks.
These 2 have some experience at this level and they will be expected to propel the team forward.
Dar City huge additions
Dar City which is looked at as the favorite to win this division has added a lot of fire power.
They added veteran Solo Diabate who has played at the BAL on numerous occasions and also played in Europe.
Nisre Zouzoua, who averaged 21.7 points for Seydou Legacy Athletique Club in the Road to BAL 2024 is also among their new signings.
The other is Raphiael Putney who averaged 15 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3 assists at the Road to BAL 2023 with the Cape Town Tigers.
Finally, they added the 2023 BAL Coach of the year, Maradona Gueye.
Their intentions are clear and coupled with the fact that they are hosting, it is hard not to see them advancing to the elite 16.
The games are expected to be from 17th to 19th at the International School of Tanganyika.
