It was a dream start for fans to the second round of the National Basketball League as the Namuwongo Blazers had chance to take revenge against the 8 time champion City Oilers under the lights.

This was the most anticipated game as numerous fans from both camps, including the neutral ones filled the Arena to maximum capacity, a thing that was last witnessed last year when the 2 teams exchanged blows in the Finale that was decided in Game 7.

The Oilers took a commanding 9 point lead to close the first quarter 23:14. The team was firing on all cylinders and the 3 point shots were dropping with Fayed Baale having a back to back, Jimmy Enabu and Titus Lual with the other 2.

The 3 point shots from both teams was on point in the second quarter with each team making 3. The Oilers though were more dominant extending their lead to 14 heading into half time.

The Blazers defense came alive in the first half of the third quarter limiting the Oilers to a single point for the first 5:20 minutes.

In contrast though, the Nam Blazers offense wasn’t as sharp and failed to take advantage of the situation. They only managed to score 6 points in that period cutting the lead to 9.

Poor ball handling and fouls from the Blazers sparked the Oilers offense back to life, Ivan Muhwezi punishing them with consecutive 7 points extending the lead back to 18 before Fayed Baale pushed the final dagger with a lay up to make it a 20 point game.

The Blazers were playing catch up the entirety of the fourth quarter and to make it worse, it’s as though their offense had decided to evaporate with the players failing to make even the simple lay ups.

Jimmy Enabu had a quarter to remember scoring 8 of the oilers 19 points of the quarter. Debutant Allawi Senkubuge was also given a chance to impress, and he took advantage of the opportunity, showing incredible ball handling skills to beat his man and score his first bucket in the NBL.
