The 8 teams to play in the 2024 FUBA Division One playoffs have been confirmed and 2 of these shall qualify for the 2024 National Basketball League (NBL).

1. Nkumba Lady Marines (18-2)

The Lady Marines have been in overdrive throughout the season and deservedly finished as the number one seed.

They have an 18-2 record and won 9 consecutive games in the second round.

2. Our Savior Banyabo (16-4)

Our Savior finished in the second position with a 16-4 record.

They are one of 2 teams that defeated Nkumba Lady Marines but their loss against Seeta High still pauses very many questions.

Last year, they fell to Legends in the quarter-finals, and they are looking to make the jump to the NBL this time around.

3. Angels (14-5)

After being relegated from the NBL in 2023, Angels had one mission, to regroup and go back to the NBL.

In Round one, they lost 4 of their 10 games but things turned around for better in round 2.

They registered big wins against Buddo S.S and Amazon Rhinos, teams that defeated them in round one but they never managed to beat Nkumba.

Their loss against Our Savior Banyabo was a source of very many concerns and addressing them is key because that is a side they could potentially face in the semifinals.

4. Legends (11-8)

Currently, Legends are in number 5 but after their final game against Angels, they will finish as number 4 regardless of the outcome.

Legends haven’t been firing as they did in the 2023 season but they are still a threat.

Inconsistencies in terms of availability of players have been their biggest struggle, but come playoffs, one would expect the full squad to be available.

5. Amazon Rhinos (11-9)

Amazon Rhinos has been hot and cold and they finished with an 11-9 record.

They registered some big wins against Angels and Nkumba but most people don’t know what to expect from them.

6. Watoto (9-11)

Watoto has been very poor in the second round with 3 wins and 7 losses.

The team has had a lot of inconsistencies in terms of player availability, and it is uncertain whether the situation will become better or worse given that the Holidays are close and most students are doing exams.

The most important thing is the fact that they had managed to secure 6 wins in round one which were very important in the final seeding.

Makerere Sparks

With a record of 8-12, Makerere Sparks managed to squeeze through to the final 8.

They registered only 3 wins in round one, but their 5 victories in round 2, plus a bit of luck, propelled them to the number 7 position.

8. Seeta High (6-14)

Seeta High qualified for their first playoffs and a lot of mathematics was needed for them to reach this milestone.

Seeta completed the double against JT Junior Lady Jaguars, shocked Our Savior Banyabo and Legends in round 2, and was lucky to get walkover wins against Buddo.

With this, they amassed 26 points while Buddo and Kibuli, despite having better records (8-12), had just 24 points.
